Project Info

Artsy approached Dutch Uncle with the concept of producing a series of three one-minute animated films, each narrated by an artist and centered on pivotal moments in their careers. The project was sponsored by Bombay Sapphire.

Recognizing the distinct narrative approach of director Freddy Arenas, we proposed him for the project, having previously noted his work in animation. The Artsy team aligned with our vision, agreeing that Freddy’s directing style and storytelling sensibility made him an ideal choice for the series.

The three films highlight defining moments in the careers of Laurie Simmons, Nick Cave, and Kristine Mays, capturing the instant they discovered their artistic calling or embarked on a transformative new direction. Each story is deeply personal, reflecting themes of self-discovery and artistic evolution.
